My name is Karlene and welcome to my site “Creating a Fulfilled Abundant Life“.
A few years ago I lost my job after the company closed and since then it has been difficult to find a comparable job that I like. It was a wake-up call because I finally got a chance to breathe and see why my family & friends kept on saying…
“you are working too hard and we no longer see you – you need to slow down!”.
Anyone who has been extremely busy and always “on the go” knows that you never feel the fatigue until you take a break. That happened to me – I literally crashed, even thinking was hard!
There was no longer any doubt that I was seriously overworked and needed some time to recover. I was forced to take some time off; for months I slept and rested trying to recover my strength. Even today, years after I still don’t feel like my old self! I realised that while the compensation was decent, it was in no way reflective of all I was doing. I told myself that this was something I needed to keep in mind for future jobs.
In addition to the loss of income; there was a feeling of ANGER and POWERLESSNESS!!!
I felt like I was no longer in control of my life and future. I knew I was a good worker, I wanted to work; I fumed. Eventually, I was forced to accept that while I could rant and rave at the unfairness of it all – employers will always make decisions in THEIR best interest; not mine!
There and then I knew I needed to look out for MY best interest as no one else will do it for me!
I wish I could tell you that I had an epiphany overnight and decided to set up my own business; never depending on anyone for my financial future but that would be a lie. Since then, I have tried to take the “easy” way out and look for a job; but there were few jobs to be had and most were paying a mere pittance! I eventually found a part-time consultancy but I needed to supplement that income.
However I quickly realised I was SO over that working full-time again. Doing that 9 to 5 every day outside my home, commuting in traffic was getting “old” and I no longer wanted to be back there again. At this stage in my life I wanted to spend more time having fun with my family, my friends and yes…ME!!! After all, life is too short to not have FUN!
After trying a few things I finally stumbled on this absolutely amazing site with a supportive community called Wealthy Affiliate where you can learn to build a business in an area you love (called a niche) and earn money while doing it!
