Fulfilment & Abundance

DEFINITIONS

First, what does that even mean???

I am that girl who makes her family, friends and colleagues roll their eyes because I hate to hear “soon” in response to a question about “when” or “what time”.

What is “soon” I often ask. Going on to add (in what I must admit is usually a snarky voice) – I don’t see “soon” as a time on the clock, as a day in the week,  or a month in the year. Give me specifics here so we can be clear.

It’s probably my personality, a throwback to my academia days or my Accounting/OCD brain kicking in but I believe in being clear in communication as this helps to minimise confusion and uncertainty. One way of doing this is to define the terms we use.

Definitions help to provide clarity and know exactly what the other party means.

So in explaining what this  site (Creating a Fulfilled Abundant Life) is all about, I’m going to define what we mean here when we use the term “A Fulfilled Abundant Life”.

Fulfilled comes from the verb fulfil which speaks to satisfaction and [just] enough to meet a particular want or need.  The Cambridge Dictionary defines its noun “Fulfilment” as “a feeling of pleasure because you are satisfied with what you are doing or have achieved” and “Abundance” as “the situation in which there is more than enough of something”.

So it is quite clear that a fulfilled life would meet our needs and our wants and honestly for most people that would be enough to make them happy. I on the other hand, think that that’s not good enough. What about my fellow human beings?

If all I have is just enough for my needs and wants; how will I be able to help other people without suffering lack myself?

You can’t give what you don’t have and since the Robin Hood Mindset does not appeal to me I knew I had to find out how to create a fulfilled abundant life. This is where you have more than enough to satisfy not only YOUR wants and needs but those around you in any area such as material (like money) or spiritual (like love).

If  my container is running over then I will be able to freely share with others without having to worry about meeting my own needs and wants.

So now you know what the terms mean and what we are trying to achieve.

Fulfilment or Beyond?

Do remember this is a Judgement Free Zone; it’s totally up to you to decide if you want to be a part of this movement ‘Beyond Fulfilment” or if you are satisfied with “Fulfillment”.

If you want to find out more about the first option and move beyond Fulfilment and towards Abundance, then read on.

So now that you know what we mean by Fulfilment and Abundance, let’s explore what it means to live in Fulfilled Abundance.

How can we identify if we or those around us are living a Fulfilled Abundant Life?

IDENTIFY

How To Identify People living a Fulfilled Abundant Life

Our Fulfilled Abundant Tribe (FATm™) members are people who have chosen to live in Fulfilled Abundance (FA) and back up that choice with actions.

Living in FA is a CHOICE because this is LIFE and things are not always gonna be perfect. Challenges will arise but they understand that these are just the Seasons of Life and no matter how difficult it seems right now;  it too, shall pass.

You will know them by their DEEDS, they live in integrity and their actions are in alignment with their words and stated mindset. You never have to wonder about who they are or what they believe. Their actions will tell you; so in the next Section don’t be surprised to see the word practise being used a lot.

This doesn’t mean that they are perfect or have it all together; it means that they have made a decision to keep striving everyday, after every setback or fall to live a Fulfilled Abundant Life.

Basics

Self-care

They understand that they can’t get to Abundance without Fulfillment; that is you can’t healthily give in any area where you are deficient or unhealthy. Being healthy requires you to practise the flight attendant’s advice and put on YOUR [oxygen] mask BEFORE attending to those in your care. You must take care of yourself FIRST if your are going to help yourself and others around you!

And NO, this is not telling you to be selfish and self-absorbed! It means you understand that a Fulfilled Abundant Life is one of value; where your very presence makes a positive difference in any space you occupy. It requires you to develop yourself and your gifts not only for yourself but also for the benefit of others. This is understanding that your tangible and intangible possessions are not just for you but for others around you; it is not yours to hoard but to share with the World.

The process starts inward with YOU; you need to work on yourself build a strong foundation so you can give to others without crumbling.  You do not need to be perfect before giving to others. The process of perfection and being the best version of you is an ongoing activity and will likely continue until the day you die. All you need is a foundation strong enough to start the journey of adding value to the lives of those around you.

Mindset

FATm™ members adopt and live out of an Abundance Mindset. What does that mean?

This means they:

  • understand that there is enough for everybody so they are not envious of the success of other people because they know enough is left over for them.
  • practise gratitude and a culture of giving back (paying it forward) thus contributing to the development process of others
  • look inwards but live outwards – try to work on improving themselves while looking outwards at how they can help others.
  • don’t compete with others but with a previous version of themselves; commit to being better today than they were yesterday.
  • kind to themselves and others – do not practise condemnation but things such as forgiveness, empathy, sympathy, understanding
  • live a life of Purpose and Meaning – have a personal vision for their lives (must include helping others / ways to benefit their tribe)
  • are happy with their life – laugh daily despite the circumstances
  • are people of integrity – dependable, their word is their bond, they live their truth, their actions are in alignment with their words..
  • are resilient – understand that a successful life can only happen when you master the Art of Bouncing Back
  • have a high self esteem or strong sense of self – are not overly influenced by the opinions of others but by their personal vision, don’t let negative comments of other people keep them down.
  • play the long game – understand, accept and willingly go through the various Seasons of Life, rejecting bitterness and cynicism of any experiences but accepting their lessons.

IMPORTANCE

Why Is It Even Important to live a Fulfilled Abundant Life?

In closing, lets have a brief look at why all of this is important.

This where we start from the outside in…

First the World needs YOU, it needs your talent, your goodness, your light, your best.  You are important, you matter, you are significant, the World would be a much poorer, duller place without you and your gifts.

Secondly, you are happier when you are on the way to becoming all you were meant to be.  With all that’s happening we know that the world needs more happy people who are able and willing to add value to all of us!
